Spring Cleaning Checklist

1. Your Dishwasher

It's time to clean the appliance that cleans your dishes. Most dishwashers have a food trap that needs to be cleaned. Remove the bits of food at the bottom. Then run your dishwasher empty with a special cleaner. Like Affresh or Finish.

2. Seal Your Granite Countertops

A lot of people like to think that Granite countertops are invincible, but they are actually prone to stain. Spring is a great time to put a new coat of seal on your countertops protecting them from stains.  Here is a quick video

3. Kitchen Cabinet

Over time grime  and cakes up on your kitchen cabinets. You want to look for a product that will clean and protect at the same time. Parker and Bailey Kitchen Cabinet Cream has really high reviews. It says it gently removes cooking oil, fingerprints, and food stains while conditioning.

 4. Your Oven

There are two times a year that I clean my oven- Spring and Fall. Spritz your oven with ammonia and wipe it down. Then follow that up with sprinkling baking soda and white vinegar. This will keep oil and grease from burning and causing unpleasant odors.

5. Windows

There is no better time to clean your windows than spring! This product called Hope's Perfect Glass gets great reviews with the claim of 100% no streak! Pro tip: do them on a cloudy day to reduce haze or streaking.

6. Window Treatments

This is a fantastic time of the year to wipe down your blinds and wash your curtains. Depending on the curtains you may need to a dry cleaner, but these days most can be put in your washing machine... just don't let them shrink!

7. Washing Machine

Don't want to wash your clothes in a smelly washing machine? Quick fix- Run an empty load with a cup of white vinegar and let it stand for 30-60 minutes. For areas where the water level doesn't reach, use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to the other areas.

8. Carpet Cleaning

Carpet companies often claim (depending on the type of carpet) that carpets should be professionally cleaned 2-3 times a year! If you need the phone number of carpet cleaners we use, don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] or call us at 530- 809-3782.

9. Clean and Seal your Grout

If you have tile in your bathroom or kitchen that's finished with grout, it's a good time to seal the grout. This protects it from staining, molds, and chipping.

10. Organize Your Closet and Donate

Time to clean out your closet, organize, and donate to a local charity. They say if you haven't worn it in a year, you probably won't wear it again.

11. Book and Shelves

Books and decorations can sit on shelves for years without being touched, building up dust. With windows open and a/c's kicking on soon, this is a great time to get your Swiffer or wet rag out and wipe down all the knick-knacks and books. This is a great time to oil wood bookshelves as well!

12. Clean Ceiling Fans

Dust has been gathering on your ceiling fans all winter long. Get them cleaned up, because soon you will be turning  fans. I have seen so many ways to clean fans. There are lots of interesting contraptions that have been created, but what ever you choose, this is the time to do it.
